Oven Fried Parmesan Chicken Recipe
The classic way to make fried chicken is with the stovetop. Or we can adapt a different approach by letting our oven do the work to serve us the tender and crispy chicken without the oil. This is by far the healthiest alternative of the fried chicken. So, put all the ingredients together; especially the butter from the refrigerator; Butter will play the key role in this recipe to keep the chicken juicy and tender. Now, let’s get started.
4 large boneless skinless chicken breasts
1 cup Italian Style bread crumbs
1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
1 teaspoon Paprika
1 teaspoon Salt
1 stick or 1/2 cup (melted) Butter
1/2 teaspoon Black pepper
1 teaspoon Garlic Powder or 2 minced Cloves
2 Tablespoons thinly sliced Parsley
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Take a baking sheet and coat it with non-sticky cooking spray.
Rinse the chicken breasts thoroughly. Pat it to dry.
Cut the chicken evenly and thinly; so that all the pieces will take the exact time to get cooked. Or you can visit a meat counter if you think the process is time consuming. Add salt and pepper to it and set aside.
Put the butter stick in the preheated oven until it completely melts. Take two shallow bowls, one for butter and one for bread crumbs. Add garlic powder to the melted butter to make the dip.
Note: To get the flavor completely, put the garlic cloves (if you are using cloves) in the butter before melting it. This would help to infuse the garlic in the butter. Skip this step if you are using garlic powder.
Mix Italian style bread crumbs, grated Parmesan cheese, black pepper, salt, paprika and parsley in the second bowl. Adjust the seasoning to your taste.
Working with the one piece at a time, dip in the butter mix first; shake off the excess. Roll it in the bread mix until it completely covered with the mixture. A well sealed coating helps to lock the moisture in the chicken while cooking. Make sure you work on it. Transfer the strips to the tray. Drizzle the remaining butter mix all over these pieces before baking it.
Bake it about 25 minutes until the chicken cooked completely. Decorate this incredibly crispy fried chicken with fresh basil leaves or with any other herbs of your likes. This comforting dish takes 40 minutes to prepare but the result will leave you crave for more. Serve it hot with Marinara sauce and green salad.
Instead of chicken breasts, you can use all parts of the chicken for this recipe.
If it’s too buttery for you cut the amount in half; use a brush to coat the chicken as an alternative to the dip.
If you cannot have the butter, replace it with Olive oil or Grape seed oil.
Substitute butter dip mix with egg dip. Add 1 Tablespoon of Buttermilk/milk/water to 1 large egg and whisk it well.
Feel free to season the bread crumbs mix with wide variety of spices
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F, use non-sticky cooking spray to prepare the tray.
Wash the chicken, add salt and pepper
Make the egg dip and bread mix
Dip the pieces in egg and then roll them in bread mix
Transfer the strips to tray
Bake the chicken in the preheated oven for 25 minutes.
Take the tray out.
