Chicken is one of the healthiest foods that can be found on this earth, maybe. But how many kids would like to eat it? They treat the healthy food as an enemy to the palates, like we did when we were children. But we cannot ignore the foods that can have the capacity to make our kids life good. Can we? So here is the recipe to push them to eat their share of chicken, in a delicious way, of course. Pepperoni Chicken Rolls. This recipe is not new but has been modified to make it more kid-friendly. And it would taste just like Pizza without the crust. To give it a more personal touch and a nice addition of flavors feel free to use your favorite pizza toppings to stuff the chicken.


      2  boneless skinless chicken breasts

      12 slices pepperoni

      4 slices or 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese

      1 Tablespoon olive oil

      2 teaspoons Italian seasoning

      1/4 teaspoon Salt

      1/2 cup pizza sauce

      1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper

      Cooking Spray

      2 Tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese

      1/2 teaspoon Garlic Powder

Preheat the oven to 350 Degrees F. Line a baking sheet with foil and cooking spray and set it aside. Take the chicken breasts and wash it thoroughly with water. Pat the chicken until it’s dry.

Trim off any visible fat and cut the chicken breasts into two pieces horizontally to make it look like cutlets.

Cover the chicken breasts with wax paper and with the help of the meat mallet lightly pound to ¼ of its original thickness.

Season the chicken to your taste with salt, pepper, garlic powder and Italian seasonings.

Note: There would be plenty of salt in Pepperoni. Remember this when you season the chicken breasts with salt. If you are not careful it might get more salty than you have hoped for. It would be recommended not to season both sides of the chicken with Italian seasonings. Sometimes it dominates the classic taste of Pepperoni.

Place 3 piece of Pepperoni on top of the breasts, distribute the shredded mozzarella cheese evenly among it.

Now roll up the chicken breasts slowly and seal the ends with the help of a toothpick.

Heat a pan with tablespoon of olive oil and put the chicken in it without disturbing the rolls. Fry it for 2-3 minutes until you see a light golden color on it. Transfer the chicken rolls to the prepared baking sheet and place it in the preheated oven. You can directly bake the rolls without frying it first also. Go with your taste here. Bake the chicken about 30-35 minutes until it’s nearly done. Remove the sheet from the oven and separate the toothpicks from the rolls. Top each roll with grated Parmesan cheese. Pour the pizza sauce all over the rolls and bake it for 5-6 minutes until the cheese completely melted.

Decorate it with the fresh basil leaves (optional) and Marinara sauce (Optional). Serve it hot with green salads.


This perfect week night dinner recipe takes almost 40-45 minutes for preparation but the taste would be worth your effort. Enjoy the delicious, spicy Pepperoni chicken rolls with your family.



  1. Switch to the turkey pepperoni to make your rolls less greasy with same spiciness. Go light on the cheese or use fat-free mozzarella if are into weight control.
  2. To save the time on pounding, cut a pocket into the breast piece and stuff it with all your flavored varieties. Or simply cut the chicken breast into thin pieces (as thin as you could manage) and follow the above procedure to make the roll-ups.
  3. Use homemade pizza sauce if possible to make it more healthy and delicious.
